Just a fluke

Gray whales don’t really breach – a fluke shot like this is about as exciting as it gets. The rest of the time it’s surface, blow, and dive.

Blow!

Breathe

I had the chance to visit San Diego this week and, of course, my camera came with me. This is the first of what will probably be several posts of shots I took while there.

The Oath of Citizenship

My friend Alan taking the Oath of Citizenship this morning at the Cleveland Federal Courthouse.

It was a neat ceremony to see and be a part of. Before being sworn in the judge gave them all an opportunity to tell how they felt about becoming a citizen or why they were choosing too. Some very moving comments were made. Once they finished they picked up a certificate and were met in the lobby from a Board of Elections official that got them all registered to vote. These new citizens were fortunate that the Ohio primaries are exactly a month from today so they will be registered in time to take part in the democratic process.
